 
Building regulations in QLD require all new buildings to be installed with a hot water system that reduces the impact of greenhouse gases.
What type of new construction is affected?
All new Class 1 buildings, as defined by the Queensland code, such as detached houses, townhouses or villa units (for a complete definition of Class 1 buildings, refer to www.dip.qld.gov.au)
What types of water heaters can be used?
A solar or heat pump water heater that is eligible to receive:
a) In a building with 3 or more bedrooms, at least 22 Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs) or,
b) In a building with 1 or 2 bedrooms, at least 14 Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs) or,
c) A gas water heater with a five star energy rating.
